Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make all of your jewelry?

Yes. I hand fabricate all of my jewelry and their components. I use traditional metal smithing techniques to shape, form, texture, and finish each piece. I don’t use any molds or casting equipment.

Does sterling silver tarnish?

Yes. Over time, sterling silver develops a thin layer of silver sulfide on the surface that makes it look dull or discolored. This happens due to a chemical reaction with sulphur in the air, water, oils from your skin, and skin care products. Chlorine also immediately tarnishes sterling silver. See Jewelry Care to learn how to prevent tarnishing or slow down how quickly your silver tarnishes.

What is oxidation?

This is an intentional process of tarnishing silver to create a patina. I oxidize my jewelry when I want to highlight certain details, bring out the natural colors of the metal, or obtain a matte finish. See Jewelry Care to learn how to preserve to the patina over time. I am happy to re-oxidize your piece for the cost of shipping. Contact me here.

Do you resize rings?

It depends. If the ring has a stone or the band has complex detail, probably not. However, I can make you a new one for an additional cost. Because each piece is handmade, there will be slight differences in the finished product. Contact me to discuss your options.

How do I know what size ring to order?

Wide bands should be ordered a half size larger than your normal ring size. If you don’t know your ring size, it is best to visit a local jewelry store to have your finger sized for the most accurate measurement. If this is not an option, contact me and I will send you a ring gauge with instructions for you to determine your size at home.

Do you do repairs?

I can only offer repairs on jewelry I made. If the repair is needed because of a structural issue, you will not be charged. There will be a cost if the repair is needed for undue wear and tear or accidental damage. The cost of the repair depends upon what kind repair is needed. If you need a repair, contact me here. Please include a description of what you need and picture of your piece. I cannot repair stones that are chipped, cracked, or broken.

Where do you get your materials?

I make most of my jewelry from my scrap metal that I melt and hand mill to create small pieces of sheet and wire. If I do need to purchase new metal, I do so from 2 trusted supply companies in the U.S. I hand select my stones from various suppliers from around the world. I only purchase stones that can be traced to their point of origin and have been authenticated. I often choose stones that have unique markings and inclusions because I think these details make the stones more interesting and add to their natural beauty.

Can I supply my own stone for a custom order?

It depends on the type of stone, how it is cut, and its shape. Contact me for more details.
